The Welsh Ambulance Service (WAST) is the national ambulance service for Wales, responsible for providing emergency and urgent care services to over 3 million people.
In 2019, WAST was tasked by the Welsh Labour Government to re-design their existing web platform for 111 services across Wales. This programme was of national importance and aimed to reduce strain on non-emergency & emergency services, enhance patient experience and accessibility and improve digital maturity.
WAST required a rapid project delivery solution which was scalable, dynamic and efficient whilst demonstrating value. WAST sought the help of Evolution NHS to provide a tailored and bespoke solution to achieve their goals
WAST had an objective, Evolution translated this objective into the necessary team structure and technical specification. Evolution deployed a high-calibre agile development team within 1 -2 weeks, put in place a fixed price model and embedded user centred design best practice throughout.
The balance between value and quality for this project was perfect, the time to onboard was circa 1-2weeks and the project so far has been an overwhelming success. The flexible approach has meant that the project has been scaled up where required to meet specific demands.
And above all, WAST and Evolution are achieving the goals set out – improving patient experience, creating long-term benefit realisation and reducing strain on emergency & non emergency services across Wales.
