The Problem

As part of funding allocated by NHSX, Northampton General Hospital required resourcing to build a Centre of Excellence for Robotics Process Automation (RPA). Evolution Recruitment Solutions were engaged to get a senior leadership team in place at an extremely fast pace.

Evolution’s services were secured to supply resources following the merge of two trusts – Northamptonshire General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital. One of the key teams merging was the Health Intelligence Team, and a Group Health Head of Intelligence, Head of Health Intelligence for Kettering and Head of Intelligence for Northamptonshire were all required, along with additional roles in data protection and information governance and a project manager for their automation programme.

The Work

Working with senior stakeholders, we qualified each requirement separately via video call, made a Trello board allowing stakeholders to have end-to-end visibility and set up a WhatsApp group for instant communication.

The speed at which the placement of the Programme Director needed to be made meant that we mobilised our connections within the NHS to find a suitable candidate.

As part of our outreach work, we run a series of podcasts and articles featuring thought leaders from across the NHS, giving us and our audience valuable insights. Following the interviews, we maintain relationships with these thought leaders, giving us a wide network of senior leaders within the NHS.

One of the senior leaders who had been involved with our podcast was highly suited to the role. Our NHS team had retained contact with him following the interview, and were aware that he was looking for a new role. As an executive director who has worked within the NHS for 15-20 years, and who had worked with CSUs, a similar model to the RPA hub that was being built, he was the perfect fit.

The Outcome

Thanks to the strong relationship we have with the candidate, we were able to reach out to him about the position and he accepted the role of Programme Director. The timeframe from Northampton General Hospital engaging our services to the Programme Director starting was a matter of weeks.
