The Problem​

BT’s Digital unit leads the organisation’s digital transformation, creating innovative products and solutions that will define BT’s future.

BT Digital were looking to build a new digital healthcare product that required a full agile development team to architect, design, develop and deploy a product to market fast. Using state of the art technology solutions BT required a technology partner to source and manage the project in a fully compliant manner. BT were also keen to operate a shared risk shared reward commercial model to ensure all stakeholders were incentivised to deliver the project on time and to budget. Due to the nature of today’s market BT wanted to be one step ahead, partnering with a consultancy such as Evolution to utilise our services, including, talent mapping, extensive database, dedicated account manager and a fixed price solution ensuring a cost saving but also a high-quality team in a short period of time giving BT an exclusive reach into the market.

The Work

Evolution provided a Statement of Work contract solution that allowed BT to quickly source world class technology professionals and build a highly skilled agile development team to deliver digital healthcare solutions to market, fast. As this project was the first of its kind for BT, we ensured a full education piece was developed, providing the client with everything required to ensure that the project was a success. As well as education, this included project deliverables, documentation including tailored timesheets, and compliance. A complimentary part of our Statement of Work solution is access to our internal Compliance Team. For this project, our Compliance Director engaged directly with BT’s Human Resource Directors throughout the process to provide advice. Evolution take ownership of the risk for Statement of Work projects, providing ongoing reassurance for our clients.

Our solution is designed to deliver a win-win-win outcome:
  • BT were quickly able to:
    • access a high calibre pool of candidates and build a full agile development team,
    • deliver the project via a fixed price model with agreed deliverables,
    • ensure the project was delivered compliantly on time and to budget.
  • Candidates (consultants) were given the opportunity to:
    • work on a greenfield digital healthcare solution using the latest technology,
    • deliver against pre-agreed project milestones,
    • provide their consulting solutions via a win-win commercial model.

The Outcome

With a 20% cost saving, time to hire reduced to within 4 weeks and the level of personnel much higher, the project has been an overwhelming success for BT. The flexible approach has meant that the project has been expanded where required and, with unnecessary admin and paperwork work BT staff eliminated, internal resource has been unaffected too. Evolution’s Statement of Work solution is fully insured and comprehensively checked through QDOS – giving BT flexible resourcing with full protection.
