Meditech Floorwalking at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Trust aimed to upgrade their Meditech electronic patient record (EPR) system to the Expanse version, seeking better outcomes for patients and staff. This large-scale implementation demanded considerable expertise and scalable resources to execute a comprehensive, flexible programme across multiple phases. As their supplier partner working towards the go-live date, we developed a plan to have floorwalkers available on-site during go-live to provide support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the successful adoption of the new Expanse EPR system, recognising their critical role in facilitating a smooth transition.

The Result

Our flexible resourcing model allowed Alder Hey to dynamically scale support up or down as needed throughout the program’s various phases. To facilitate a seamless go-live, we supplied a dedicated team of 13 floorwalkers, with 5 starting a week earlier for intensive training, and the remaining 8 joining for an intense two-week period of on-site support, providing comprehensive 24/7 coverage during this critical juncture.

Not only do Evolution understand the delivery needs, they are also aware of how an EPR is built to ensure patient safety. The team at Evolution have spent time working with me on my needs to establish the right team to work with, and a testament to this is the ongoing relationship I have with Evolution and that my team also has. My team and I have been together well over a year now, this again speaks for itself when creating a team, that Evolution were able to bring together professionals who can create a unified team to build a substantial EPR.
