4 Reasons to Change Jobs in September

blog

There might be a few reasons you’ve been considering finding a new job recently. Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you need an increase in salary? Are you relocating? Whatever the reason for being back on the job market, or even if you are just beginning to consider keeping an eye out for a suitable role, you may be blissfully unaware of the benefits of changing jobs in September.

1. It’ll cure your holiday blues

Have you found yourself on holiday with the family this summer, unable to put your phone away when you’re on the beach or out having dinner, simply because you need to keep an eye on your work emails? Did you find yourself dreading going back to work after your most recent break? If so, this could be the perfect time to look for something new; there’s nothing quite like the feeling of finding a new job when your current role seems to be the only thing you can think about! So, if you return home from holiday to a serious case of holiday blues at the thought of returning to work, you know what to do.

2. Hiring managers are back in the office

After a bit of a slow summer in terms of job hunting, now is the time to get back on the horse. Make sure your CV is up to date if you’re applying for jobs at the end of August or start of September, because hiring managers are generally returning to work from their holidays. If you have had any issues or blockers in terms of responses to roles you’ve applied for, there’s no time like the present, so either chase up on any applications you’ve made, or start applying.

3. You have Q4 to get your head round a new company

There’s no better time to apply for a job, because starting in September means you are joining a new business towards the end of the year. This is likely to mean they’ll be coming towards the end of their financial calendar, their sales strategy, their marketing schedule and so on; everything will be in place, generally speaking, in the run up to Christmas. You will have Q4 to settle in properly, get your head round how a new company works, and have a full understanding of your role and the business processes in time for Q1 next year.

4. It’s the start of a new term

Just because you’re not in school, college or university anymore doesn’t mean you can’t be in sync with term time! September is the time of year when everyone is ready and raring to go again after the summer is over; it’s the ideal season to accept a new challenge, start afresh and broaden your knowledge. If you have been debating whether or not to move on or look for the next step in your career, September is the perfect time to do it.
