The Business:

My client is a specialist in supportive business finance, providing funding to a wide range of SMEs. As a result of a large capital acquisition, they are going through a growth phase and are looking for an additional Business Analyst to join the team. The working arrangement is hybrid in the Blackburn office, with most colleagues working from home on Mondays and Fridays.

Main Purpose:

An additional Business Analyst is needed to help implement new business projects and support future process and system changes.

The immediate focus of the new role will be to run and co-ordinate the testing activities required for the latest business project. The successful candidate will be trained on the use of a new automated testing tool and will be responsible for updating and running this application.

Key Objectives:

The Business Analyst will be a key facilitator of process and system changes within the business. You will work to understand the processes and systems used and, where required, you will recommend and implement agreed improvements.

You’ll work with the Product Manager and Business Analyst to deliver changes and work with third party software suppliers to provide them with a clear list of system requirements.

You’ll also need to be able to communicate with business colleagues to help understand new requirements and to explain how changes can impact their area.

Where appropriate, you’ll be involved in a number of other activities while implementing change such as testing, training and communications.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

The role will include;

  • Familiarising yourself with the new platform.
  • Working with other members of the project team to understand newly discovered requirements.
  • Preparing test scripts and test data.
  • Manually running tests.
  • Coordinating a team of users from across the business to carry out testing of their own departmental areas.
  • Raising bugs, issues and working with the project team to resolve these through configuration or code delivery testing.

The role will also involve the ongoing management of an automated testing platform. The successful candidate will be fully trained on how to use and update this platform and will be responsible for;

  • Making sure that the application is updated whenever changes are made to the system.
  • Running automated tests and analysing the output.
  • Raising any bugs or issues that are discovered and providing detail that should lead to a quick diagnosis of the problem.
  • Re-testing fixes.

You’ll be expected to;

  • Work closely with colleagues within the business teams to understand their processes and use of systems.
  • Use a number of tools to help identify process improvements and recommend them in appropriate forums.
  • Capture and document clear system requirements.
  • Work with third party software development companies and internal colleagues to deliver necessary change.
  • Maintain a backlog of pending system improvements.
  • Carry out system configuration to implement change.
  • Analyse data to help better understand a situation.
  • Investigate, analyse, and resolve service desk jobs that fall within the team’s remit.

Person Specification

  • Strong desire and self-motivation to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organised, detail oriented, extremely responsive.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Keen to learn and understand new systems and platforms.
  • Commitment to quality work with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to own personal development.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
